The UAE Government issued the National Policy for Vital Residential Communities in 2019, recognizing the importance of establishing a clear approach and unified national standards to support the flourishing of residential communities across the UAE. This initiative aligns with the rapid urban growth and development, ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of life for community members in the UAE, enhancing their social relationships, and fostering a sense of belonging and security.
This policy comes in line with the launch of “National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031”, which aims to enhance the livability, attractiveness, and sustainability of cities and regions. Therefore, this policy focuses on bringing essential facilities closer to residential communities, facilitating ease of connection between communities through roads and transportation, involving residents in improving the quality of life in their areas, and leveraging smart systems and modern technologies to achieve this.
 

1. Encourage the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles.
2. Enhance positive mental health.
3. Adopt a positive mindset as a core value.
4. Develop strong life skills.
5. Foster the quality of social connections within families and communities.
6. Enhance the quality of digital life and encourage positive and meaningful digital communities.
7. Promote and prioritize quality of life within educational and professional settings.
8. Promote the values of generosity, cooperation, solidarity, and community service.
9. Enhance livability, attractiveness, and sustainability of cities in the UAE.

   • Design suitable locations that reduce social isolation, facilitate mobility, and enhance access to essential amenities that boost wellbeing.
2. Integrated facilities.
   • Provide a comprehensive offering of public facilities, commercial activities, and diverse residential options to foster a cohesive residential community.
3. Cohesive communities.
   • Design road networks and transportation systems that ensure residents can easily reach a majority of destinations with comfort and swiftness.
4. Areas for interactive living.
   • Plan streets, communal public spaces, and buildings to enhance wellbeing and promote outdoor leisure activities. 
5. Cultural participation.
   • Involve residents in enhancing their residential communities to foster and nurture their sense of social responsibility and belonging.
6. Smart systems. 
   • Harness data and intelligence systems to enhance the quality of life for residents.

1. Promote a variety of transportation options across different communities.
2. Boost physical activity through suitable infrastructure and facilities.
3. Foster stronger community connections, a sense of belonging, happiness, and convenient access to services and facilities.

All segments of the community, including the beneficiaries of government housing programs and residents of government residential communities, and all government residential communities developed by Federal Government Entities.
